Pluriversal Methods Forum

The Pluriversal Methods Forum is funded by the UCL Grassroots Research Culture Seed fund 2025-2026 led by DECOLAB (Decolonial Collaboratorium) in collaboration with the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP) at UCL. Funded through an internal competitive scheme, the project is one of three projects awarded within the Bartlett Built Environment and part of 25 projects funded across UCL.

The Forum brings together academics, early career researchers, and doctoral researchers to explore creative, participatory, decolonial, and community-engaged research methods through hands-on, practice-based Methods Lab(s). Each lab is led by a colleague actively using a specific method and is designed as a short, interactive session that combines demonstration, discussion, and reflection on ethics, inclusion, and data care.

Rather than treating methods as abstract or purely technical, the Pluriversal Methods Forum creates a supportive, low-risk space for learning-by-doing, knowledge exchange, and cross-disciplinary dialogue. The aim is to make innovative and justice-oriented methods practical, ethical, and reusable for research, teaching, and supervision.

Outputs from the Forum will be developed into Methods Booklet Series, providing open, citable resources for staff and students across the Bartlett and more widely across UCL. In the longer term, the initiative aims to contribute to doctoral training and to support a more inclusive, transparent, and care-led research culture.
